After the heavy rains of June 4-6, the Rouge River overflowed it's banks into the Ford Field playground, picnic area and parking lot. On Sunday evening, June 6, half of the parking lot was under water. However, by the morning of June 7, over 95% of the parking lot was submerged -- turning the whole area into a small lake. Each year, the students of Dearborn Heights Montessori Center study an ancient culture through a variety of curriculum and classroom projects. They learn about the way people lived years ago, including their art, music, geography, history and society. To showcase the children’s studies, the school holds an annual day-long cultural festival in May for students, teachers and families. New Waste and Recycling Cart Delivery Begins

Dearborn's New Waste and Recycling Removal System

New trash and recycling carts to be delivered to every Dearborn household. Delivery will start June 1,  and be completed by July 5 Dearborn residents should expect to see their new trash and recycling carts delivered to their households beginning June 1, with the expectation that all households will receive the new carts by July 5. The carts will be delivered to every household at the curbside. Residents are residents being asked to then store the two, 96-gallon carts in an appropriate place and not to use them before their collection day on the week of July 5. Comics Convention for Kids

The Kids Read Comics Convention, a free event promoting comics and graphics novels for kids and teens, moves to Dearborn for its second annual celebration on June 12 and 13, 2010. The event will be held in Dearborn’s Henry Ford Centennial Library and feature over fifty artists and writers who work in comics and animation. These creators will lead a variety of hands-on workshops and participate in panel discussions and presentations aimed at kids, teens, parents, teachers and librarians.
