Debate About Free Speech In Dearborn Continues

EDITORIAL (Updated 27-Jul-2010) -- The Dearborn Free Press has purposely been very slow to report much about this controversy. We heard about the arrest of  four Christians at the Arab International Festival, on Friday, June 18 -- the night that it happened. We mentioned something about it on our Facebook page, the following Monday morning (June 21st). We have been very cautious to report anything, and a careful investigation is still ongoing. Dearborn Heights Montessori Center Offers Program for Toddlers

Parents of toddlers are encouraged to learn about a new program at Dearborn Heights Montessori Center, located at 466 N. John Daly. Trial of Acts 17 Apologists Begins

Dearborn, Mich -  Four Christian apologists affiliated with the Acts 17 Apologetics ministry appeared before Judge Mark Somers of the 19th District Court in Dearborn for arraignment this morning at 8:00, represented by Robert Muise, Senior Trial Counsel with the Thomas More Law Center in Ann Arbor. Local attorney Majed Moughni (who is running for Congress) sat next to Mr. Muise and conferred with him. Attorney Muise requested that the missing video tapes (confiscated by the Dearborn Police on June 18th at the time of arrest) be admitted as evidence for the trial. Enhancements to New Trash and Recycling Program

The City of Dearborn recently announced enhancements to its new trash and recycle program. For the first time, residents with health and physical challenges may apply for cart pickup assistance. Residents with demonstrated hardships are being encouraged to begin the application process. Mayor John B O’Reilly, Jr. said “We have a specific application process that is being implemented. Library Increases Fines and Fees

The Dearborn Library Commission recently voted to increase overdue fines to 25 cents per day per item. This increase includes books, audio books, compact discs, magazines, and instructional DVDs and videos. Overdue fines for entertainment videos and DVDs remain $2 per day. The commission also approved an increase of the daily Internet pass fee to $2 and the annual pass to $20 for all non-resident library cardholders.
