La Pita Donates $1,000 to Save Our Pools

DEARBORN, MI - Kasey Chammout, owner of LaPita Restaurant presented Save Our Pools (S.O.P.) founder Danielle Misovich a check for $1,000. Co-op Services Credit Union Forgotten Harvest Facebook Fundraiser

Kids in metro Detroit are going hungry, and you can help. Just become a Facebook fan of Co-op Services Credit Union in June, and Co-op will donate $2 to Forgotten Harvest. The $2 donation can provide 10 meals to people who need it. The statistics of hunger are staggering. According to the 2008 U.S. Census Bureau, one in five children in the Detroit tri-county area live in poverty. We visited Mati's Deli for lunch on Thursday, May 20th as  part of Thousand Buck Thursday's in Dearborn. Mati's Deli is a local landmark (and one of Dearborn, Michigan's best kept secrets), at the tri-corner crossing of Tenny Street, May Street, and Monroe Street.
