Michigan Art Studio to Host 2nd Annual Glass Pumpkin Fest

The Glass Academy will host the 2nd annual Glass Pumpkin Fest on October 16th & 17th from 11am-4pm. This weekend festival will feature more than 500 hand-blown glass pumpkins of various colors, sizes, and shapes for sale. Each one will be unique and individual, so customers can pick their own personal favorites and start a collection. This is an all ages’ show with free admission. Henry Ford Big Band Played Main Stage at European Jazz Festival

How many community or college ensembles were selected to perform at Europe’s oldest jazz festival, held in July on the French Riviera? Dearborn Community Chorus Offers Open Rehearsal, September 7th

The Dearborn Community Chorus (DCC) is having an open rehearsal on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. in the Henry Ford Community College Choir Room, room F-113 in the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center.  (See HFCC campus map - PDF) Prospective members may attend the open rehearsal before formally registering.  The DCC always welcomes new members (ages 16 and older) with an ability and desire to sing. Dearborn Heights Montessori Greek Cultural Festival

Each year, the students of Dearborn Heights Montessori Center study an ancient culture through a variety of curriculum and classroom projects. They learn about the way people lived years ago, including their art, music, geography, history and society. To showcase the children’s studies, the school holds an annual day-long cultural festival in May for students, teachers and families. Comics Convention for Kids

The Kids Read Comics Convention, a free event promoting comics and graphics novels for kids and teens, moves to Dearborn for its second annual celebration on June 12 and 13, 2010. The event will be held in Dearborn’s Henry Ford Centennial Library and feature over fifty artists and writers who work in comics and animation. These creators will lead a variety of hands-on workshops and participate in panel discussions and presentations aimed at kids, teens, parents, teachers and librarians.
