DEARBORN, Michigan – The City Beautiful Commission’s annual “Dearborn Aglow” holiday home decoration judging for 2011 will be taking place Saturday, December 10, Sunday, December 11 and Monday, December 12 from 6 to 10p.m. each evening. Commissioners will be out searching the neighborhoods for the most impressive Christmas holiday light and decoration displays. Salvation Army Launches $8.2 Million Red Kettle Campaign

DETROIT, Michigan — The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit will launch its annual Red Kettle Campaign throughout Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties on Friday, Nov. 11. This year’s goal is $8.2 million, a figure needed to ensure the organization can continue providing more than 3 million meals and nearly 700,000 nights of shelter each year to the less fortunate. DEARBORN, Mich. - The Rotary Club of Dearborn will hold its annual Santa Snaps outreach and community service project from Thanksgiving through December 23 at the end of the Wayne County Light Fest on Edward Hines Drive. Santa Snaps is a long standing tradition that has received rave reviews from toddlers who meet Santa for the first time. DEARBORN, Mich. – The Dearborn City Clerk’s office is accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for the annual “Toys for Tots” program. Toys will be accepted through Tuesday, December 14. Collected toys will be given to the Toys for Tots program, which is organized by the Marine Corps Reserves, who will distribute them to needy children throughout Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Garden City and a portion of Allen Park. DEARBORN, Mich. — The hunt is on for the City of Dearborn’s official 2010 Christmas tree. Dearborn residents are invited to submit their trees for consideration for the honor – and this year, one is needed earlier than usual. The city’s Treelighting Ceremony and Sing-along is Monday, Nov. 22. It is free and open to the public.
