Veterans’ Picnic Moved From Flooded Park

DEARBORN, Michigan – The Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council has moved its Veterans Family Day Picnic on Sunday, May 29 to Fort Dearborn American Legion Post 364 on 3001 South Telegraph Road in Dearborn. The event is open to all veterans and will be held from 1 pm to 6 pm. The move is necessary because of flooding at Ford Field Park, after heavy rains this week. Local blues singer Curtis Sumter of the Curtis Sumter Project, who is known around town for his association with the Jaime Coe Band and The Reflections, is set to perform. Free Shuttles Available for Dearborn Homecoming

DEARBORN, Michigan - Make your visit to Dearborn’s Homecoming festival August 6-8 as easy as possible by using the free shuttle services offered by the City of Dearborn. Two options exist: free parking and free shuttle service from Dearborn High School, sponsored by Henry Ford Health System, and free shuttle service from the west Dearborn business district along West Village Drive, from Military to Monroe.  All shuttles take visitors to the festival grounds at Ford Field Park in Dearborn. After the heavy rains of June 4-6, the Rouge River overflowed it's banks into the Ford Field playground, picnic area and parking lot. On Sunday evening, June 6, half of the parking lot was under water. However, by the morning of June 7, over 95% of the parking lot was submerged -- turning the whole area into a small lake.
