September 29, 2011 By News Release

DEARBORN, Michigan – Co-op Services Credit Union, which was founded in Dearborn more than 57 years ago, recently participated in the launch of Adopt-A-Watt, an energy and money saving program for two public parking structures that are located only a few blocks from the credit union’s branch on Michigan Avenue in west Dearborn.

Co-op Services Marketing Director, Lisa Fawcett, accepts a plaque of recognition from Dearborn Mayor Jack O. Reilly, Jr. for the credit union’s participation in the Adopt-A-Watt program in west Dearborn.

“Co-op Services is pleased to participate in such an innovative program that will help Dearborn reduce energy costs and save money that can be used for other energy efficient initiatives in the community,” said Marketing Director Lisa Fawcett, who attended the dedication on the credit union’s behalf.

Co-op Services joined other local businesses and organizations to sponsor the installation of energy efficient lights in the parking structures. The new lights are designed to burn 300,000 fewer pounds of coal and will last 100,000 hours, significantly longer than conventional lights.

The Adopt-A-Watt program is a public-private partnership developed by Royal Oak businessman Thomas Wither. Businesses are asked to help sponsor energy efficient lights so that monies saved can be used for other green initiatives.

Headquartered in Livonia, Co-op Services Credit Union has more than 52,000 members and maintains eight full-service branch offices in the Detroit metro area. Members also have access to more than 3,000 shared branches and 28,000 ATMs nationwide. For more information about Co-op Services  call 800.321.8570.
