Dearborn Senior Services Present Social Activities

DEARBORN, Michigan – Senior citizens in Dearborn have plenty of social, travel and enrichment opportunities presented by the Senior Services division. Call 313-943-2412 for more information.  The following are upcoming examples:

Beanie Baby Bunco

Dearborn Senior Services is having a Bunco party on Thursday, March 8 at 11:30 a.m. at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn. Prizes, snacks, pizza and pop are all included for $5. Sign-up early, space is limited. For information and reservations call 943-2412.

Dearborn Senior Walking Club

Walk your way to good health. The Dearborn Senior Walking Club meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue. Check- in is from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Walk the indoor track from 1:30 pm to 3pm. Members set personal goals and record mileage. Membership is open to Dearborn Senior Citizens. Members pay $1 for each visit. Ppassholders are free.

Volunteers needed to help deliver food for City’s Meals on Wheels program

There is a big need for volunteers to help deliver food to Dearborn residents who receive meals through the City of Dearborn’s Meals on Wheels program.

The number of current volunteer drivers is low; new drivers are needed.

Volunteers deliver meals using their own vehicles each weekday morning. Volunteers can choose to deliver meals every day, or to only deliver on a particular day once a week or even once a month. All deliveries are made to people living in Dearborn.

To volunteer, call the Meals on Wheels volunteer coordinator at 943-2009.

Firekeepers Casino

Enjoy a one-day trip to Firekeepers Casino on April 10. Cost is $37 for residents and $39 for nonresidents. Call 943-2319 for information.

City of Dearborn Senior Citizen Transportation

The City of Dearborn SMART transportation serves residents of Dearborn age 60 years of age or older. Seniors are required to schedule trips at least four days in advance. Dearborn Transportation Service is curb to curb. The services area is within the city limits of Dearborn.

The fee is $1 each way or $2 round trip. The transportation service is available Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All vehicles are wheelchair accessible. To schedule a ride, call 943-4083.
