County Sponsors Household Hazardous Waste Day Oct. 13

October 11, 2012 By News Release

DEARBORN, Michigan – Dearborn residents are invited to participate in a free Household Hazardous Waste Day event 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Southland Shopping Center, Eureka Road and Pardee, in Taylor.

The event is sponsored by Wayne County. Proof of residency could be requested. Enter off of Pardee near the Target store.

This is an excellent opportunity to safely dispose of materials that should never be placed at the curb for collection.

Only household items will be accepted. A partial list of acceptable materials are household paints, floor wax, furniture polish, bathroom cleaners, fertilizers and lawn chemicals, antifreeze, automotive batteries, and mercury thermometers.

The site will also accept electronics, such as computers, scanners and keyboards, cell phones and televisions. Not accepted are microwaves and refrigerators or other appliances.

Call 734-326-3936 for more information.
