DEARBORN, Michigan – The Inter-Service Club Council of Dearborn recently honored members of their individual organizations who represent exemplary commitment to their group and the community.
Of those eight outstanding members who volunteer so much time and effort, Barry Hawthorne, a member of the Dearborn Optimist Club, was chosen as the 2014 Service Person of the Year. Hawthorne has volunteered in the community serving with the Optimist Club as president for two terms and vice president for three terms. He chairs the Respect for Law Committee and also was the Dearborn Optimist of the Year in 2009.

The Inter-Service Club Council (ISCC) of Dearborn honored outstanding members of Dearborn’s service clubs during its annual luncheon Nov. 12. The ISCC selected Barry Hawthorne of the Dearborn Optimist Club as the 2014 Service Person of the Year from among eight nominees, presented by their clubs for consideration of the honor.
