Youth in Arts Festival spotlights talented Dearborn students

Vocal and instrumental music performances, art demonstrations and Senior Talks by high school student artists, and the opening of the Dearborn Public Schools City Wide Art Show will be featured at the 2014 Youth in Arts Festival. Admission is free to this showcase highlighting the creative talents of over 400 students from Dearborn Public Schools and Henry Ford Community College on Wednesday, April 16 from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. Pockets of Perception Team Visits Intermodal Rail Station

High school students from Dearborn’s Pockets of Perception (POP) student design team recently visited the Dearborn Intermodal Passenger Rail Station construction site where the mosaic mural they designed will be installed this spring. The POP team includes10 students who represent all three of Dearborn's public high schools. Since September 2012, the students have worked together, under the guidance of instructors Wendy Sample and Mohamad Bazzi, to design the mosaic mural that will be a focal point in the new station. $10,000 Raised as Dearborn Talent Brought Stage Alive

More than 200 performers filled the stage with instrumental music, song and dance on February 1 during the collage concert at the first-ever Saturday Night Alive event which generated $10,000 in funds for the Michael A. Guido Theater Restoration Fund. On stage in the photo: the Dearborn Symphony, Vanguard Voices, Dearborn Community Chorus, Motor City Brass Band and the Dearborn Public Schools Honors Choir. The Dearborn Players Guild and the Dearborn Community Chorus also performed at the event.
